Chinese Consul General in Melbourne Fang Xinwen Attends State Funeral Ceremony to Honour Russell Jack AM

On August 29, the Victorian government held a state funeral ceremony to Honour Russell Jack AM, former president of the Bendigo Chinese Association and founding curator of the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo. Consul General Fang Xinwen attended the ceremony, and presented a wreath in the name of the Chinese Consulate General. More than 300 people attended the ceremony, including Jack’s family, Hon Jacinta Allan MP, Victorian Premier's representative, Federal Member Lisa Chesters, Australian Prime Minister's representative, Cr Thomas Prince, Mayor of Bendigo and Victorian Chinese community leaders.

Consul General Fang expressed his deepest condolences on the passing of Jack and extended his sincere sympathies to his family. He thanked Lei for his outstanding contributions to the development of the Chinese community and the Spread of Chinese Culture over the decades. Jack's family and Jacinta Allan deeply mourned Jack's life and achievements, and thanked him for his significant role in the Bendigo multicultural community, leaving a valuable legacy for the local society.
